Formed in the picturesque county of Wiltshire, UK, in 2019, The Paul Gordon Experience is a dynamic rock and pop covers band with a unique twist. Comprised entirely of talented teachers from a Wiltshire secondary school, this ensemble brings a wealth of musical expertise and a shared passion for performance to every stage they grace.

Origins & Formation

The Paul Gordon Experience was born from the camaraderie and shared love for music among colleagues at their Wiltshire school. The band’s name pays homage to the legendary Paul Gordon, a founding member, talented musician and astonishing lightweight. United by their teaching roles, unfulfilled dreams, and a desire to perform, they decided to channel their diverse musical backgrounds into a band that might inspire the rockstars of tomorrow. To everyone’s surprise, they were actually rather good and have been playing together, in various forms, ever since.

The PGE can perform as a 4, 5 or 6 piece band, dependent upon requirements, venue and availability.

Members – Past & Present

James

James Rose

Vocals & Guitar

James Rose

Vocals & Guitar

Charismatic frontman and founding member. James’ powerful vocals and skilled guitar playing set the tone for the band’s vibrant performances. It is a rare thing to find such great talent without any of the ego.

Dan

Dan Fraser

Bass Guitar

Dan Fraser

Bass Guitar

Aside from providing the rhythmic foundation for the band, Dan is also a founding member of the group and ‘band dad’. He is responsible for branding, publicity, web–development, set-lists, organising rehearsals and everything else.

Ade

Ade Poole

Drums

Ade Poole

Drums

Founding member and moonlighting DJ, Ade’s musical knowledge is second to none. Although Ade would tell you he values enthusiasm over accuracy, he rarely skimps on either. Ade moved on from the school in 2023, but is still an integral part of the PGE.

PG

Paul Gordon

Keys & Guitar

Paul Gordon

Keys & Guitar

The eponymous hero. Paul not only lends his name to the band, he was also the only actual ‘musician’ to have played in the original line-up. Paul moved on from the school and the PGE to pursue a career in politics, but returns for the occasional guest appearance when duty calls. He still enjoys playing with his organ.

Jamie

Jamie Holmes

Guitar

Jamie Holmes

Guitar

Jamie was brought into the band to fill the void left by PG, which is not a task that many mortals would ever contemplate. Luckily, Jamie is a bit of a god when it comes to playing the guitar! Jamie’s other prized talent is reducing the average age of the band.

Sav

Charlotte Saville

Vocals

Charlotte Saville

Vocals

Musical theatre runs in Charlotte’s blood, but stick her behind an SM58 and you get pure rock! Sav opened up a huge collection of potential new material when she joined the band, regularly stunning audiences with her vocal power (and the rest of the band with her diva behaviour).

Chris P

Chris Pickett

Keys

Chris Pickett

Keys

Chris made the draft when the Headmaster insisted on the PGE performing Fairytale of New York for the Christmas assembly, and a Keys player was needed at short notice. Being an actual musician, Chris stepped up with ease. Since then, Chris has been fully assimilated into the PGE hive-mind. Resistance is futile.

Chris W

Chris Walker

Drums

Chris Walker

Drums

With two James’ in the band, bringing in a second Chris seemed a logical move. Chris W was invited to keep the throne warm for school events after Ade departed and has eased into the role admirably. Rogue gong use aside, Chris provides a solid, thumping backbone of a beat and usually learns the songs.

Musical Style & Influence

The Paul Gordon Experience is known for their electrifying covers of rock, pop and soul classics. Their repertoire spans decades, from ‘60s soul, through the anthemic rock of the ‘70s and ‘80s to the catchy pop hits of the ‘90s and 2000s. Each performance is a journey through the eras, featuring songs that have shaped the soundtrack of many lives. The band's ability to authentically recreate these beloved tunes while adding their unique flair has earned them a dedicated following.

Looking Forward

With a strong foundation and a growing reputation, The Paul Gordon Experience is excited for the future. They continue to refine their craft, expanding their repertoire and exploring new musical horizons. As teachers and musicians, they inspire both their students and their audiences, proving that passion and creativity know no bounds.
